You were born for such a time as this. God uniquely crafted you with gifts the world needs. Now, it’s time for you to believe in the person you were destined to become.

In this article, we’ll guide you on a journey of self-discovery, helping you to understand your purpose, connect with your calling, and step boldly into the life you were meant to live.

Key Takeaways:
  • Purpose: It’s not something you need to develop; it’s an intrinsic part of who you are.

  • Confidence: The essential ingredient in living out your purpose is unwavering self-belief.

Navigating the Journey of Self-Discovery

Entering adulthood can feel overwhelming. The quest to find out who you are and what you want in life often comes with immense pressure. In fact, approximately 20% of young adults experiences depression before the age of 18 due to these challenges. The pressure to conform and succeed can obscure your unique gifts, making it hard to see them as the blessings they truly are.

If you’re unsure about your purpose or who you are, know that these feelings are normal. The journey of adulting is one of continuous learning and self-discovery. But where do you turn for clarity?

"The need to “fit in” is overpowering your ability to see your unique, one of a kind qualities, as a gift."

Discovering Your Purpose from Within

The answers you seek are already within you. As you grow into your authentic self, you’ll realize that no one else has the insight or power to define who you are or what you were born to do. To uncover your true self and your life’s calling, draw closer to the Creator, for God has already placed the answers within you.

Your purpose in life is simple: to be authentically you. Each day, live unapologetically as yourself, sharing the knowledge, ideas, and gifts that only you can bring to the world. When you embrace your authentic self, you become a wellspring of wisdom, capable of enriching the human experience in positive and profound ways.

Our goal in life is to live out our purpose. Our life’s calling is to successfully execute and express who we are, what we love, and why we love it...authentically.

Reclaiming Your Authenticity

Before the world told you who to be, before societal pressures took hold, you knew who you were. You knew what made you happy, healthy, and whole. Yet, many of us lose sight of this as we begin to seek answers from others.

Your life’s mission is to reconnect with that authentic self. To do so, you must spend quality time with yourself and God, the only one who knows the full depth of who you are and has the perfect plan for your life.

Steps to Unveil Your True Self

Here’s a simple yet powerful exercise to help you reconnect with your authentic self, understand your purpose, and embrace your calling:

  1. Reflect in Writing: Grab a journal and write a detailed description of who you believe you are. This might feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s a crucial step in self-discovery.

  2. Identify Truth vs. Expectation: Review what you’ve written and differentiate between statements that reflect your true self and those influenced by external expectations.

  3. Communicate with God: Spend time in prayer, discussing what you’ve uncovered. Talk to God about why certain statements resonate with you and why others feel unlike yourself.

  4. Listen for Guidance: After praying, spend 10-15 minutes in a silent meditation. Allow God’s voice to come through in your thoughts. You’ll recognize divine guidance by its positive, loving, and supportive nature, always aimed at leading you towards a fulfilling life (John 10:10).

  5. Document Divine Clarity: Write a second letter to yourself, capturing what you feel God communicated during your quiet time. Did you gain clarity? What actions is God asking you to take?

Repeat this process weekly to deepen your understanding of yourself, your purpose, and your calling.

Living Out Your Purpose

Throughout your adulting journey, you’ll find that those who live with purpose do so by having the confidence to be themselves. They trust God to guide them in achieving their goals, removing the pressures of peer acceptance and society’s expectations of success.

Remember, your uniqueness is your power. Embrace it and let it shine brightly.

There is nobody like you. That is your power. Own your uniqueness and never be afraid to let it out.
