How God Works In Our Lives

What a Healthy Relationship with God Looks Like

You have the opportunity to be in a relationship with God - The Creator of all things - A resource that has never been defeated. When God seeks to do life with you…say Yes.

This article will teach you the relationship non-negotiables of God.

We all have our list!...God is no different…but you’ll be surprised to know, it’s only two things that matter most. After reading this article, you will understand the simplicity of loving God and experiencing the success of partnering with The Most High in your life.

Main Takeaways:

  • God created you for relationship & your primary one should be with Him

  • God teaches you how to love

  • When it’s true love, it extends beyond words and enters into action

  • The word of God lets you in on all of God's juicy relationship business. Learn why everybody wanted a piece of Him.

When dating, one of the first questions your potential partner may ask is, “What are you looking for?” It’s such a common question that people write a list of their qualities in diaries, notebooks, and journals in preparation to answer this question. When you’re new to the dating scene, your list and response can be a little lengthy - full of things you want and need - but as you mature through the dating process, you begin to realize…the needs are what matter most.

To successfully thrive in adulthood….put your needs first. They’re what matter the most!

Something to Think About:

  • Similar to your dating life, your adulting journey needs a list.

  • What are your non-negotiables in life?

  • What do you need to feel good about your adulting journey?

More than 50% of YOUth graduating from High School feel an intense fear of failure, stress from the pressures to succeed, and overwhelmed - unable to cope with the realities of adulthood. When you approach adulthood with fear, anxiety, stress, and worry; many of the decisions you make will reflect those same negative emotions, ultimately increasing your desire to give up.

Long-term feelings of loneliness and stress that present along your journey is usually a result of choosing to do life without fulfilling one of your most primary needs, partnering with God.

Build a committed relationship with God. God knows your needs for reaching adulting success and will equip you to overcome the challenges you experience along the way.

God is prepared to help you be successful.

When you commit yourself to a relationship with God, you’re allowing The Creator of all things - A resource that has never been defeated - to come into each and every moment of your life prepared to help you, guide you, support you, lead you, develop you, and direct you to success.

If you were to ask God what He needs to be in relationship with you, only two things would be mentioned in his response. Although there are other things God may want, these two qualities matter most:

“The most important commandment is this: You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: Love your neighbor as you love yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”

-Mark 12:29-31

Loving God is an intentional act and serves as a prerequisite to how we love ourselves and others.

When adulthood is approached with God at the center of your life, emotional disturbances such as: fear, anxiety, stress, and worry may present but they will not succeed in overtaking your thoughts, your choices, or your life.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

If you want to be successful in your life. If you want to attain the goals written on your adulting list, don’t try to do it alone. Partner with God! All He asks is that you love him unconditionally - trusting him through all situations, circumstances, and experiences.

Believe in your heart that God only wants the best for you!

God is simple. We tend to complicate his methods and ways by thinking it’s difficult to have a loving and successful relationship; just keep it simple.

The Missing Link to Your Adulting Success:

  • Read Mark 12:28-34 to further understand the heart of God.

  • Identify ways that you can deepen your relationship with God and start implementing those strategies into your daily life.

  • Invite God into your situations and ask Him, “how can I see this through your loving eyes and ways?”

Once you begin to develop an intimate and personal relationship with God, you will never be the same. You will think better about yourself. You will respond effectively to life situations and you will understand why everyone who partners with God….falls deeply in love.

Reflect On This:

  • What are the non-negotiables that you need from God and others? Write out the desires of your heart and allow God to guide you on how to proceed.

  • What do you love about yourself? How can this attribute be extended towards others?

  • What does loving your neighbor as you love yourself mean to you?

  • When feeling sad, lonely, overwhelmed, or stressed about your adulting journey, read Psalm 23 KJV to remember the love of God and what He will do for you.
